Lorenzo Di Terlizzi

Lorenzo Di Terlizzi

Lorenzo Di Terlizzi got his bachelor and master Degree at the University of Pavia, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maurizio Fagnoni and Prof. Dr. Stefano Protti. His master thesis dealt with the generation of highly reactive diradical species from chloro-substituted aryl carboxylic acids. His PhD thesis focused on the use of arylazo sulfones for the generation of radical intermediates to exploit in organic synthesis through visible light exposure. He was a visiting student in Masson’s group, at ICSN, CNRS, Gif-Sur-Yvette, Paris under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Geraldine Masson, where he kept studying the photochemical reactivity of arylazo sulfones applied for the double functionalization of olefins. He obtained his PhD in January 2024 and afterwards started his first Post-Doc in collaboration with Vinavil in the Cross-Life project at University of Pavia, developing new, greener and more sustainable approaches for polymerisation processes to eventually scale them up in the industrial implants. In October 2024, he started his second Post-Doc in collaboration with BASF industries in AK König, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Burkhard König In this year he dedicated his studies on the synthesis of saturated and unsaturated heterocycles employing photocatalysis. In october 2025, he joined Prof. Dr. ir. Timothy Noël’s research group for a postdoctoral stay.
