Koh Watanabe, was born in 1999 in Niigata, Japan. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Kanazawa University in 2022, where he conducted research under the supervision of Prof. Hirohisa Ohmiya on reductive umpolung using silylboronates. During his Master’s studies at Kanazawa University, he expanded the reductive umpolung strategy to amides and worked on the development of geminal silylborylation reactions. In 2024, he joined the PhD program at Kyoto University. He is currently a visiting student in the Noël Research Group at the University of Amsterdam.
