Elena Bombonato is a PhD student from University of Bologna, Italy. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Parma in 2017, working on the “Synthesis of isocoumarins from methyl-2-bromobenzoate and ketones catalyzed by palladium”. In 2020 she obtained his Master’s Degree in Industrial chemistry in the same university working on “Synthesis of functionalized aromatic iodides in ortho by Catellani reaction” under the supervision of Prof. Elena Motti and Nicola della Cà (industrial supervisor Fabrio Rancati). After the thesis, she gained the opportunity to carry out an internship as a research chemist at the “Chemistry Research & Drug Design” Department of Chiesi Farmaceutici (October 2020-April 2021). In 2021 she started her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Bologna under the supervision of Prof. Massimo Marcaccio (industrial supervisor Dr. Paolo Ronchi). The aim of her Ph.D. thesis is to study organic electrochemistry reactions by a mechanichistic point of view and their potential applications in the industrial landscape for exploiting more efficient and sustainable chemistry. For her PhD visiting period she has joined Prof. Noël’s group where she is working to developing methodology for electrophotocatalytic C(sp3)-H heteroarylation in flow system.
