Julian Quévarec was born in 2002 in Quimper, Brittany, France, and grew up in a small village in the region. He obtained a BSc in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Grenoble, where he worked under the guidance of Dr. Frédéric Minassian on the synthesis of novel bis-indole and dipyrromethane antibiotics. He then pursued a MSc in Molecular Chemistry at École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France. During the first year, he participated in a 5-month research project at Syngenta in Stein, Switzerland, to develop a high-throughput electrosynthesis device. Following this, he joined the Noël Research Group for a 6-month research stay, which resulted in his master’s thesis, where he worked on the development and applications of recyclable ionic-liquid photocatalysts. Currently, Julian is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where he continues his work under the supervision of Prof. Timothy Noël. His research focuses on exploring new reactions for the conversion of syngas into fine chemicals.
