Matthias Schmid studied chemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU, Germany), where he earned his master’s degree in 2016 after completing his thesis with Prof. Mark Lautens (University of Toronto, Canada). Subsequently he joined the group of Prof. Dirk Trauner and later of Prof. Thomas Magauer for his PhD studies, in which he worked on biomimetic and classic total synthesis. He obtained his PhD from the LMU Munich in 2019 and moved shortly after to the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), where he worked as a postdoctoral researcher on flow chemistry in the group of Prof. Timothy Noël.
